Paul McAuliffe was elected to Dáil Éireann as a TD for Dublin North-West in 2020, after more than a decade in local government. A proud northsider, he grew up in Finglas and has spent his career working on the issues that matter most to families across Ballymun, Finglas, Glasnevin, Santry, Beaumont and Whitehall.
First elected to Dublin City Council in 2009, Paul went on to serve as the 350th Lord Mayor of Dublin (2019–2020) — using the office to champion the city, community, sport, and better public housing.
In the Oireachtas, Paul currently serves as Fianna Fáil Party Whip. He has been a leading voice on the Public Accounts Committee, on housing delivery, energy poverty, a domestic violence register and anti scrambler provisions in the Road Traffic Act.
Above all, Paul's politics is local. The job, he says, is to listen on the doorstep and make sure that voice is heard in Leinster House.
